I speak with young girls often and it is becoming more and more obvious that our young girls have no true sense of identity. The advancement in modern technology have replaced the quiet time and everyone is busy asking the next person what they are doing? Texting is slowly eroding the English language.

So I want to share a few tips with young girls about how to start establishing a sense of identity:

1. Get Still. Set aside five minutes each day to do nothing but just think. At first it may seem like it is not working and you can expect some distractions but keep at it.
2. Start Writing. Purchase some form of writing tablet and began to journal especially in your quiet time. Write down the thoughts that come to your mind. No matter what it is just jot it down. If you are not a writer then try drawing or painting. Find your form of self expression.

Commit to this process for 5 minutes everyday and I guarantee you will start the wheels in motion of discovering your true self.

I will be back next week some other tips for empowering you with A Sense of Identity.

It's Not Over

All over the news we are hearing about doom and gloom. Yes we are in a financial crisis but it is important for us as believers to understand that It's Not Over.

These times have not caught God by surprise but the key is to develop a plan to emerge from the ashes because "this too shall pass."

There are two types of people in the world right now. The people who will emerge from this storm and rebuild, relaunch and rebrand. Then there are the people who will emerge only to find themselves buried.

Which will you be?

A New Year and A New You

Change is in the air. Across the country millions of people made resolutions that things were going to be different this year. Out with the old and in with the new. This year I will lose those 20lbs. I am going to stop drinking. I am going to eat healthier. I am going to tithe. I am going to join a ministry. I am going to be more disciplined. I am going to be a better steward of over my money. I am going to spend more quality time with my family. I am going to start my own business. I am going to discover my purpose. I am going to settle down. I am going to be celibate.
You name it; someone has declared this year it will be done. This month we will witness a historical change in the White House. There will be an official transition of power.

Just like the White House, you may also be in a transition either voluntary or involuntary. Let me encourage you, there is nothing new under the heavens. Your situation is not news to God. Yes the economy is bad. Yes you lost your job. Yes you are a single parent. Yes your children are acting up. Yes your relationship is in trouble. Yes you have been abused. Yes your rent is due. Yes all hell seems be breaking loose. Let me add another yes right here. Yes, God is still in control. Hallelujah!!!

We must hang on to our hope in Christ Jesus. Now is not the time to throw in the towel. Now is not the time for a pity party. When you look at your current situation, I dare you to think back on all the God has brought you through. I dare you think about His goodness. I dare you stand on His promises and declare that this too shall pass. It does not matter if you are a seasoned saint or a babe in Christ. If you have accepted Christ Jesus as your personal Savior and believe the Bible is the word of God, you can speak to your situation.

I wish I could tell you there was a quick fix but I would be lying though there are some believer’s who have had an And Suddenly experience (myself included). This season our country is facing is not a surprise to God so when you are tempted to worry, fear and fret remember that God has prepared a way of escape (I Cor. 10:13) – Hallejuhah!!!

Let me tell you, there is a shifting going on. God is calling forth the purpose He has placed in all of us. “To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3: 1”

Do your part. We can no longer be hearers of the word; we must now become doers of the word. Acting in faith, moving in faith and operating in faith, proclaiming what God has declared over our lives. In order to do this and see the manifestation of God’s promises again you must surrender and listen to what the Spirit of the Lord is saying.

You can’t hear from God if you don’t listen. Remember prayer is really dialogue with God so don’t do all the talking - give God an opportunity to communicate to you through the Holy Spirit. Read your Spiritual manual the Bible and mediate on what God says about your situation. Listen for any messages God may be trying to convey to you in the midst of your situation. Be encouraged.

Here’s a New Year’s Resolution for you DO NOT OPERATE IN FEAR….for the next 24 hours every time you are tempted to worry about your situation cast it down in the name of Jesus. Just say, nope situation I am not going to worry or fear. God has not given me the spirit of fear.

Focusing on your situation is selfishness. You are focusing on your own strength instead of leaning and depending on Jesus who has the power to change your situation. Pray for wisdom and God’s purpose for your life. Remember the mind is the battlefield. The thoughts of abandonment, inadequacy, feelings of rejection and shame will try to creep in. Tell the enemy, “I talked with God about my situation and I am waiting to hear further instructions, In the name of Jesus, Amen.”

Praise God through your favorite song and worship God for who He is. You will begin to feel better – the more you do it the better you feel. Get Moving…before you know it, others will see and comment on the transformation and a passion will erupt in you like you have never felt before.

Don’t just sit around and wait to see what God is going to do. Get busy and shift your focus. Look for ways you can help others, volunteer in the area of your gifting, get a mentor or life coach, join a book club, evaluate your circle, surround yourself with positive people, ask God for a sneak preview. Do your part and trust God to do His part. Before you know it, you’ve got another testimony and you can run on a little further to see what the end is going to be.

What's Next

It has been a while since my last entry and WOW alot has happened. I am very excited to say that I have completed three of my five goals for this year. Nothing like the feeling of accomplishment. Earlier this month I traveled to Laguna Beach, CA to complete my certification to become an Certified Instructor through Life Purpose Coaching Centers International.

The year is almost over, how you coming along with your goals? You still got time....

See I am passionate about empowering women, young adult and teen girls to discover their purpose in life. This certification will add to the services I currently offer in my coaching practice.
In these trying economic times, we all must find ways to generate additional income.

How are you adjusting in these tough economic times? Have you been a victim of downsizing? Are you waiting on the pink slip anyday now? Are you stressed out?

Let me encourage you to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX....now is the time to go for those dreams and move on that new idea. This tough economy brings with it many options for entreprenuers and small business owners as big business are looking for ways to cut cost without sacrificing service and quality.

Take the years of experience you have learned on that job and put it to work for you. You got what it takes and now it is time to show the world. Write it down, develop that plan and take action. I know I am and remember you gotta believe....

Staying Focused

Hi there....how are we doing on the resolutions and new year committments?

Are you maintaining your momentum, have you decided to quit all together, have you lost focus or are you moving full steam ahead?

I want to encourage you to stay focused. Do you have an accountability partner (AP)? If not, I strongly encourage you to prayfully seek one. Your AP will prove invaluable when you feel like quitting or you lose focus. Your AP is there to cheer you on and hold you accountable. Your AP is also there to share in your success.

The Challenge:

Find your AP by the end of the month. Schedule a time to talk with them about your goals and time line for completing those goals or a particular goal. Schedule check in time with your AP to ensure that you are consistently working towards your goals.

Until next time remember, you gotta believe!!!!

Happy New Year

I know....I know....I have been MIA...I make no excuses and ask that you forgive me.

Can you believe it – we are in a year of new beginnings and I can not tell you how excited I am. New Year’s Eve, I was reflecting back on 2007 and tears started to stream down my face as I thought about the awesomeness of God. The more I reflected the more I cried. My husband and children would ask me several times if I was ok but I was unable to speak.

REFLECTIONS…..
On the eve of 2007…I declared it a year of opportunities. I talked with God and I told Him that if He brought opportunities my way, I would not miss them. I added that I wanted 2007 to be a year in which I find passion, purpose, prosperity and peace. Reflecting back, the heavens must have started working the minute I spoke those words into the atmosphere. Had I known that those declarations would require an investment of well over $10,000 and heart failure – I probably will still be standing on the shores of life waiting for my ship to roll in.

Passion! The power of words! I have heard that statement for years but not until now have I known that statement to be true in the positive but I experienced it for years in the negative. There comes a time in everyone’s life when you make a decision to change for the better.

Purpose! Everyone has one but few no what it is. I realized that purpose was a BIG thing for me. Being a breast cancer survivor, I realized soon the importance of time. I know I petitioned God thousands upon thousands of time for my purpose.

Prosperity! In my pursuit of purpose, I came across a ministry to helped women discover their purpose. I was so excited FINALLY an opportunity.

Persistance! This P was not part of my original petition. God added this one for me. Remember that well over $10,000 investment I mentioned earlier. If you had told me January 1, 2006 that I would be required to invest $10,000 in myself – well let’s just say – I am glad you did not.

Peace! In September I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. I was released from the hospital with a positive prognosis however; I had to make some lifestyle adjustments in order for my heart to change. HALLEJUHAH! Later that month, I was blessed financially beyond my wildest dreams.

I am not finished yet….I’m just getting started and I encourage you to join me. Don’t let at this year as just another year. Look at it as a new beginning – believe in yourself!

Being Thankful

The weather really did a number on us here in Texas! One day we were wearing shorts and enjoying the 60 degree weather and the next everyone was wearing coats. At least it felt like Thanksgiving!

I enjoy Thanksgiving though it does not get the credit that it deserves in the retail community. They go from Halloween to Christmas - I guess their main focus is dollars and being thankful does not fit into their budget or increase their bottom line.

Though I try to give thanks everyday, there is just something peaceful about Thanksgiving. The world just seems to slow down for a minute to enjoy, reflect and give thanks! Everyone you meet in the store is especially nice. People waiting patiently in lines in the stores, they drive patiently on the freeways as they travel to visit their love ones. Everyone reaches out the help the homeless and elderly.

My "I'm Thankful List" has changed so much over the years - what about yours?

God has been so gracious to me until everyday feels like Thanksgiving. As I continue to grow in Christ, He continues to give me more reasons to be thankful. I am thankful for the little things especially. You know things like being able to walk through the store and smell the different scents in the air. The sounds of festive music while walking through the mall. Driving down the road and seeing birds in flight to their next destination. Little kids looking out the rear window - innocent and curious as they wave and smile without even know who you are. Listening to the conversations of others who share stories of family and life. Hearing my children as they talk about their plans for holidays which usually includes my money.

For a minute, I am young again without a care in the world living in one Nation Under God.

Well, thanks again for listening and sharing....remember you gotta believe.

Lady Purpose

Following Your Dream

Thursday, November 8, 2007 11:00pm

After a long day at work, I came home and spent some time with the family then grabbed my laptop to prepare paperwork for a new coaching client. I get so excited when I prepare to coach a women or young girl along their pathway to purpose. Today, I had the privilege to speak with a young lady who recently gave her two weeks notice to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. I could see and feel her passion as she talked about her desire to help others. I understood her decision and admired her for pursuing her passion. I know that she will be a wonderful nurse one day.

Have you ever thought about what your life would be like if we could do what we really love? Not what you like but what you LOVE! I have a dream of opening a conference and retreat center for young girls to come and spend time away from everything and everyone to get in tune with their spiritual self and discover their purpose. When I am not at the Empowerment Center (as I call it) I would be traveling the nation, speaking and empowering individuals to pursue their diving purpose.

If you could do what you love what would it be?

Welcome from Ask Lady Purpose

Monday, November 5, 2007 - 10:54pm

Wow! was my thought when I saw the preview of the new Girls Living Life On Purpose site. My web designer did a fabulous job - don't you think! Today is our first day on the world wide web and I am elated. I get to check this off my goals list for the year. It was a long time coming but finally we are here. I had no idea how much work went into designing a web site. From finding the right designer who connects with your vision to making sure all the information flows. Boy do they require alot of information - LOL!

I am equally excited to be able to chat with you now. This is the connection part of our mission statement. I can't wait to connect with you whether you are a young girl, teen, concerned parent or just another woman who wants to share. I am all ears and I love to talk.

I was just outside on the patio taken back at how beautiful the night was. The wind chimes were making the most harmonious sounds as if to remind us that just for the momemt, all is right with the world. The breeze was so gentle and as I wrote in my prayer journal I noted that it felt like the breath of God was comforting the entire city gently blowing away the cares of the day preparing us for a gentle nights sleep. Fall is my favorite time of year, I often tell my husband that I wish we could move to a city where it feels like fall all year long.

I think everyone needs to have a theme song, actually we all do have theme songs whether we like it or not. The question is does your theme song empower you or discourage you? Your theme song is what has gotten you to this point in your life.

Take a listen to my theme song by Yolanda Adams. I listen to this song every day at least five times a day, no kiddin' if you want to know a little about me - just listen to the words of this song and it will give you a good indication of who I am and who I am becoming.

Well I am getting ready to relax and go into dream land...share with me your theme song...I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Until next time-remember-YOU gotta believe!
