Being Thankful

The weather really did a number on us here in Texas! One day we were wearing shorts and enjoying the 60 degree weather and the next everyone was wearing coats. At least it felt like Thanksgiving!

I enjoy Thanksgiving though it does not get the credit that it deserves in the retail community. They go from Halloween to Christmas - I guess their main focus is dollars and being thankful does not fit into their budget or increase their bottom line.

Though I try to give thanks everyday, there is just something peaceful about Thanksgiving. The world just seems to slow down for a minute to enjoy, reflect and give thanks! Everyone you meet in the store is especially nice. People waiting patiently in lines in the stores, they drive patiently on the freeways as they travel to visit their love ones. Everyone reaches out the help the homeless and elderly.

My "I'm Thankful List" has changed so much over the years - what about yours?

God has been so gracious to me until everyday feels like Thanksgiving. As I continue to grow in Christ, He continues to give me more reasons to be thankful. I am thankful for the little things especially. You know things like being able to walk through the store and smell the different scents in the air. The sounds of festive music while walking through the mall. Driving down the road and seeing birds in flight to their next destination. Little kids looking out the rear window - innocent and curious as they wave and smile without even know who you are. Listening to the conversations of others who share stories of family and life. Hearing my children as they talk about their plans for holidays which usually includes my money.

For a minute, I am young again without a care in the world living in one Nation Under God.

Well, thanks again for listening and sharing....remember you gotta believe.

Following Your Dream

Thursday, November 8, 2007 11:00pm

After a long day at work, I came home and spent some time with the family then grabbed my laptop to prepare paperwork for a new coaching client. I get so excited when I prepare to coach a women or young girl along their pathway to purpose. Today, I had the privilege to speak with a young lady who recently gave her two weeks notice to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. I could see and feel her passion as she talked about her desire to help others. I understood her decision and admired her for pursuing her passion. I know that she will be a wonderful nurse one day.

Have you ever thought about what your life would be like if we could do what we really love? Not what you like but what you LOVE! I have a dream of opening a conference and retreat center for young girls to come and spend time away from everything and everyone to get in tune with their spiritual self and discover their purpose. When I am not at the Empowerment Center (as I call it) I would be traveling the nation, speaking and empowering individuals to pursue their diving purpose.

If you could do what you love what would it be?

Welcome from Ask Lady Purpose

Monday, November 5, 2007 - 10:54pm

Wow! was my thought when I saw the preview of the new Girls Living Life On Purpose site. My web designer did a fabulous job - don't you think! Today is our first day on the world wide web and I am elated. I get to check this off my goals list for the year. It was a long time coming but finally we are here. I had no idea how much work went into designing a web site. From finding the right designer who connects with your vision to making sure all the information flows. Boy do they require alot of information - LOL!

I am equally excited to be able to chat with you now. This is the connection part of our mission statement. I can't wait to connect with you whether you are a young girl, teen, concerned parent or just another woman who wants to share. I am all ears and I love to talk.

I was just outside on the patio taken back at how beautiful the night was. The wind chimes were making the most harmonious sounds as if to remind us that just for the momemt, all is right with the world. The breeze was so gentle and as I wrote in my prayer journal I noted that it felt like the breath of God was comforting the entire city gently blowing away the cares of the day preparing us for a gentle nights sleep. Fall is my favorite time of year, I often tell my husband that I wish we could move to a city where it feels like fall all year long.

I think everyone needs to have a theme song, actually we all do have theme songs whether we like it or not. The question is does your theme song empower you or discourage you? Your theme song is what has gotten you to this point in your life.

Take a listen to my theme song by Yolanda Adams. I listen to this song every day at least five times a day, no kiddin' if you want to know a little about me - just listen to the words of this song and it will give you a good indication of who I am and who I am becoming.

Well I am getting ready to relax and go into dream land...share with me your theme song...I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Until next time-remember-YOU gotta believe!
